Come On' Momma!

Just a few pictures of my two favorite men.
Seriously, WHY is Kie getting so big?
He looks like a lil boy in these pictures!
And his dad, well he looks like a young boy in these pictures too!
I love having a son, a lot has to do because of the joy it gives to my husband.
Of course, a little girl would easily be the apple of Justin's eye--and she would have him WRAPPED around her finger!
But for now, watching Justin and Mini J (Kie) play together just brings me so much happiness.
I'm super blessed...
and I'm super blessed to have this great husband and son.

Thank you, God!

Ps,
Kie has a new thing he says to me...
and it's super cute.
He does the hand motion of "come on"
And says in the cutest voice,
"COME ON, MOMMA!"

::He does this when he wants to go to the next room, out the door, outside...anywhere he's going and wants to make sure I'm close behind::

Wherever we are, he leads the way and says it to me.
Always whipping his little arm around in a half circle motion.
Running off, checking behind to see if I'm following.

Love that lil dude.
Happy Friday, Friends!

see the little boy in my husband? lol

Lil Bit of Updates

Hey lovely readers,

So it's THURSDAY (love how fast this week flew by!) and I just thought I'd do a small catch up on life.
Last week--I got a lot accomplished. I finally went through Kie's closet and drawers to clean things out for Baby K.

Kie and his new baby brother will eventually share a room together.  I say eventually because for the first few months the new baby will be sleeping in our bedroom.

Now, if Baby K happened to be a girl, then SHE would of gotten her OWN room. But, I figured two boys so close in age can share a room.  At least, for now :)

So we pulled out all the newborn clothes--and washed them. I washed all the blankets and divided up the drawers and de-cluttered some toys to take to donate.

As for now, everything has a place!
Kie still has his crib. And to be honest, it seems he will be happy there for awhile.  I think he likes that it's "his space".  He doesn't try to get out and in fact, he even likes his crib.
When it's nap time, he sits and reads quietly (if he isn't sleeping.) And he loves to play with his babies or reads to them in the sanctuary of his crib.

I'm more than happy keeping him in there because I know he's safe and not wandering around. I'm sure the day will come he will be either too big or getting out of his crib.  But for now, it's his lil safe spot.

We also had a big party here last weekend with all the family.  I had family fly in from Wyoming and Colorado for the big UT/WY game last week.  Not only was it the kick off of college football season, but it was Labor Day weekend. So we had a long extended weekend with everyone!

Naturally, it went by too fast. But I loved having everyone over. Plus, they got to see all of the remodel! Everyone loved it :) (Of course, our remodel days are far from through--we have a game room addition we plan to start next Spring.)

Basically we spent the weekend with great family and friends--and ate a lot and watched some football.
As for this week, Justin has been taking Kie everyday to swim after work.  It's been so nice to have him come home at 5:30 this week.  It's a rarity and I doubt I'll have a week like this again soon. The extra few hours having Justin home has meant I've had time to finish some of my own work, do house work and get off my feet some.

Typically, I feel pretty well. I tire out easily but I still blame the heat. Of course, packing on 30+ lbs does not make it easy.

Yep, looks like I'll be nearing 40lbs this pregnancy so far I'm up 31lbs. Ah well, I have been eating decent. I just think that with the remodel we had (and no kitchen for weeks on end) and the countless family and friends that have come visited (which means eating out) and of course our vacation (more eating out) that I have just indulged more so than I'd like.

Sad thing is, Kie saw a picture of pregnant Jessica Simpson on my computer the other day...and he pointed at her said "Momma!"
Wowza, that's great.
I hope I am not looking that big!
I will have a picture to post soon :) So YOU can be the judge.

Anyway, here's some cute pictures from this past week.
Kie found his newborn shirt he got from the hospital.  Dad thought it would be funny to try it on.

Kie wasn't happy the way it fit. Haha!

Mortality and Motherhood

A change of gears here,

Late night writing tends to happen when there are things on my heart and mind that I can't get away from....
Thoughts that keep me up at night.
I guess, at an earlier age--I've always thought about death and mortality.

My preacher often time preached on the End of Times.
And though I may never thought of my own personal death when I was young--I did realize that life has a time stamp.
And that life can be cut so short.

I learned that lesson first hand numerous times with pets that passed away too soon...
and one of the biggest and most significant was the passing of my Grandfather.
I was in 5th grade.
He died of Cancer.

Such an awful disease.
He faced death with grace.
He was ready to meet his Maker.
Papa was relatively young.
He was in his early 70's.

I say that is young because my Meme, his widow-is now 87.
It's been nearly 15 years since Papa died.
Wow.

And then there was my uncle.
He was young,
super young.
A young Marine.
A helicopter Pilot.
A newlywed,
married to my aunt.
He died in a routine helicopter mission.
His life was cut short.
Before they enjoyed a year of marriage.
Before they had a chance to have kids.

It was a freak accident.
And I can remember the night my parents told me.
It all seemed so surreal...
and sickening.
Like a nightmare that I couldn't shake.
And of course, I could never imagine the pain my aunt experienced.

Life gets cut short.
And it can be so hard to adjust and move on.

This post comes from a slew of things.
Death has knocked on the door of my friends and family over the years...many times.
And even recently.

Now as a mother,
to two.
I think of death more than I'd like.
Maybe it's because I can't bear to think of leaving my children.
Or they, leaving me.

I know God has a plan for His children.
And that with life,
there comes death.
And in His plan, we may suffer and die.

But, it doesn't make it easier to face.
Of course, I know I'll be in Heaven one day.
One day with my Uncle Grady.
And My Papa Jim.
And the countless loved ones that have left too soon.

However, as a mother--
death now scares me.
Whereas, it didn't before.

I have always had steadfast faith.
Even when I was slipping down a slippery slope of sin and destruction.
I knew my soul was safe.
Yes, it was ridiculous of me to be so stupid, selfish and living in sin--but I knew I had been saved.
It was only a matter of time before God gave me a lesson to get back on the right path.
And luckily...I did.

Even though I know where I'll be going,
it doesn't make it easier.
Because, as a mother---I want to be here.
To protect.
To shield.
To love.
To teach.
To guide.
To hold.
To grow old.

Same goes when you get married.
You wish to grow old with your spouse.
Have children, grandchildren...
and rock on the front porch, hand in hand.

That's what I want.
But, I know there's no guarantee.

So with each day,
I kiss.
I kiss a lot.
I kiss my husband.
I kiss my son.
I hug,
I squeeze.
I snap photos.
I savor....
And I pray.

I thank God for my son in my womb.
That we have a healthy delivery.
That he is fine and safe.

I pray for God's will.
That Kie may grow to be a great Christian man, who fulfills God's will in every sense.
I pray that if I'm lucky, Justin grows old with me.
That he realizes that my fears and worries are just because I love so deep.

I know there is no guarantee of how long we will be here.
So, I guess I just want to leave my mark.
Not to be famous or rich.
But so that those that I love...
know I love them.
And that that impacted my life in such a wonderful, wonderful way.

That my husband knows,
without a doubt,
I'd do anything for him.
That he's my rock.
He's my soul-mate.
That Kie knows,
that I never knew unconditional love, until he was born.
That I never knew true joy....until he was born.
That thanks to him and his father,
I got to experience true bliss and happiness.

My pregnancy with Kie, saved my life.
It was the catalyst that got me back to God.

And to my son,
who has yet to be born...
That I love him to the moon and back as well.
I don't know him yet, but I stay awake waiting for reassuring kicks.
I've already cried over you.
Dreamed about you...
and loved you before I even held you.

Motherhood means thinking of mortality.
It may make us crazy.
It may keep us up at night...
And I guess, that's another layer of emotions you strap on as a mother.

It's a heavy burden
and I don't think it gets lighter....
but,
I know--that I'd give my life for my two sons.
I'd do anything so they won't have to hurt.
And for my husband,
I want nothing more than to grow old with you, for you to be happy and flourish--and to be with you always.

And to all my family and friends,
I love you, all.
And I thank you for being in my life in anyway.
Life is short.
And it's times like this that puts things in perspective.
When things happen we don't understand,
it should reveal to us that we need to cherish our time.
To tell others we love them....
and to always be grateful.

Sometimes, we don't understand God's will.
We don't understand why people hurt and die.
Why the innocent go too soon...

I don't have the answers.
But, what I do know is that in return, I'm more grateful for my time.
That I'm grateful for my time with my loved ones and all my many blessings.
And I vow that
everyday I'll give thanks to God for everything.

Praying and thinking of a very sweet and dear momma friend, Ashton.
You're on so many people's minds--and in so many prayers.
Stay strong sweet girl.
We're lifting you and your family up.
And ultimately, God has His hand on you.

Know That

There's countless times during the day that I say something like,

"Kie, you're so smart, you know that?"

Or,

"Kie, you're so wild, you know that?"

"Kie, you're so silly, you know that?

"Kie you're so cute, you know that?

Etc, etc, etc.....

His response to me, every time....

"Know that."

Ahhh, toddlers....
So cute, so wild and already know more than their moms.

Watermelon mess

30 weeks y'all

How far along?
30 weeks
Maternity clothes?  Yes and no. I wear some maternity tops and regular yoga pants. Or, I wear a lot sundresses and big T's. If it ever gets cooler I'll break out my maternity jeans.
Total weight gain/loss?  29lbs--shhh, I'm still doing better this pregnancy then the last. My goal is stay under 40 this go around! Last pregnancy I put on close to 50!

Stretch marks? None! :) surprise.
Sleep?
 Ha! Sleep, what's that?
Best moment this week? I don't have gestational diabetes this pregnancy! Whoo hoo! I am anemic, however.
Movement?  Yes, sweet boy kicks me a lot. I love watching him move through my shirt. I want Kie to feel him but I don't want to scare him! lol
Food cravings?  None. If I have any, I cook it. Mainly cooking lots of pastas and casseroles. Though, my sweet tooth is back. But that's typical pregnancy or not ;)
Gender? Still very much a boy.
Labor signs? Braxton Hicks. And I cramp a lot...but, it's also hot out and it's a reminder to drink more water.
Belly button in/out? still in :)
What I miss: I tire out easily.  I wish I had the energy to exercise, keep up with Kie, cook, clean and work. But typically I have to chose certain things to get done in a day instead of powering through it all.
What I am looking forward to: This weekend! Cleaning Kie's closet and drawers out. Washing newborn clothes....and buying a few new things for Baby. Also, prepping our house for a big Longhorn Football kick Off Party! Whoo hoo! Hook 'Em!!
Milestones: 30 weeks has me a bit terrified of another c-section!
They're not exactly fun, but the outcome is amazing! :)

au natural and just up from my Sunday nap.
Justin loves to get the candid shots.
At least I'm eating watermelon and not ice-cream, right?
